Let’s the Blogging Begin!

Hi everyone!

As this is my 1st post and I’m a real newbie in blogging about social media or other Web 2.0 tools I would like to encourage you to read my “About” section to learn a little bit more about myself.

Ok, now I have the feeling that you already know me better which will help you understand what I want to achieve through this blog.

THE PURPOSE OF MY BLOG

For me this blog is going to have a real archival value, in that it will help me record all my research about what is Enterprise 2.0 and how can companies use this digital technology.

I also want to use this blog to learn how to create a personal brand. Learning how to get people to find my blog and how to provide them with relevant content so that they can consider me as a reliable source of information is of great importance to me as I will probably need this knowledge in my future marketing career.

Lastly, the purpose of this blog is to interact with the world. Through comments, I want to connect with my audience and have some feedback on my ideas but also discover other point of views, debate and gain some additional knowledge on Enterprise 2.0.

HOW CAN MY BLOG BE SUCCESSFULL?

So now that I know what I want to draw from this blog, it’s time to think about my readers, i.e. YOU. Since blogging is not a one-way relationship, I need to focus on how I can make this blog worth reading to lead you to participate and turn it into a discussion platform where we could share ideas and debate.

  • Content is key:  Two characteristics come to mind when it comes to create content. Quality – in trying to write about topics that have not already been covered multiple times or address them with my own approach and writing style. Relevance – in that my posts should provide information that you find useful. My key strategy will be to try to both entertain and educate you.
  • Spread the word: To try to stand out from the flood of blogs I need to be heard and visible. Don’t worry, I won’t shout that I’ve created a new post from the rooftops. Instead I intend to spread my content through social networks using tags to be sure that I’m reaching an appropriate audience. Commenting, debating on others’ blogs and linking with expert in Enterprise 2.0 through pingbacks might be a second tool to lead new readers to have a look at my blog.
  • Turn my followers into loyal readers: To prevent you from running away as soon as you land on my homepage, I will try to work on the page layout to make it as user friendly and pleasant-looking as possible. I also want to engage you in my blogging experience through questions and controversial topics as I think that a blog is as much about listening as about speaking to you. Finally, I hope I will succeed in maintaining a regular schedule, that way we will have our own “Rendez-vous” each week 😉

    Your content is solid, I must agree with every single one of your points. Especially liked the paragraph on blog success, readers can have a quick look and given time delve further in to necessary information. Touché’.
    Also love the page layout and design, awesome idea to colour each heading and keyword, i may be considering adopting that in my next post .

      Thanks for your feedback. I decided to highlight some keywords because I was afraid that my post was too long and would drive my potential readers away. Now they can have a quick look at my ideas and decide if it’s worth reading or not!

    Hi Aurelie,

    Really great post! Reading it made me realise how wrapped up i was in the whole concept of “personal branding” when i wrote my first entry. Vanity is such a curse! 🙂 of course engaging the audience is vital and loyalty must be one of the first rules of branding?(i’m not a marketing student obviously). Will be coming back here often to check out your posts. Thanks for your awesome insight, will definitely be putting it to use.
